Hicks Baker at the Thames Valley Property Festival
On the 13th September Fiona Brownfoot, Director of Retail and Leisure for Hicks Baker, chaired the retail session session at the Thames Valley Property Festival.
The festival focused on Brexit’s Opportunities, threats and challenges for the Thames Valley, with the retail session featuring keynote speaker was Matthew Hopkinson of Didobi (formerly of the Local Data Company,) whose knowledge and presentation skills were appreciated by the assembled audience. Matthew made several bold predictions about the retail sector, including that half of the UK’s retail parks could disappear due to changing consumer behaviour.
Also on the panel were Kate Orwin from Hammerson and Graham Mountford, Centre Manager for Broad Street Mall. The importance of the public realm was discussed and the need for all the players in the retail arena to play their part in ensuring that retail centres in the Thames Valley remain relevant and attractive.
